Winter in the Gastein mountains
Bad Gastein is one of 84 municipalities in the Hohe Tauern National Park, the second largest national park in Europe with a total area of 1,800 km².
Skiing
For skiers - from beginners to professionals - Bad Gastein offers 201 kilometres of well prepared piste. 60 kilometres are blue (easy), 117 kilometres red (medium) and 44 kilometres are black (difficult). The highest descent begins at an altitude of 2686 metres.
The purchased ski pass is valid in Gastein as well as in the entire Sportwelt Amade.
The glaciers Mölltal and Kaprun invite you to ski all year round and are about one hour away from Bad Gastein.
Cross-country skiing
Bad Gastein offers excellently prepared cross-country trails over a length of 90 kilometres. The cross-country ski run in Sportgastein is located at an altitude of 1600 metres above sea level. Here you can experience the unique feeling of cruising under high mountain conditions.
Thermal baths
What could be better than relaxing in a warm thermal bath after a busy day on the slopes and taking a break from everyday life? The thermal baths of Bad Gastein with their many different sauna areas are just a five minute walk from our house! (So don’t hesitate!)
Radon caves
The radon caves of Bad Gastein created by nature are unique in Europe and known worldwide. In the therapy area approximately 2 km underground, the ascending radon gas directly affects the human skin and the respiratory tract. At an air temperature of 37 or 41.5 degrees Celsius, and a relative humidity of 70 to 100 %, the effect on the human organism is unique.
Radon therapy is especially recommended for the treatment of various injuries, allergies, arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory diseases. Radon treatment is also good preventive treatment. It promotes the renewal of many body functions and strengthens the immune system.
